Spring 2010 Demonstration Against Escalation of Afghanistan War Tuesday, May 18, 2010 4:00–5:30 p.m. Office of Congresswoman Betty McCollum, Blair Arcade Building, 165 Western Avenue North (at Selby Avenue), St. Paul, MN Tell Representative Betty McCollum that the people of Minnesota do not support the war in Afghanistan. Urge her to vote against funding for the escalation of the war. Join Merriam Park Neighbors for Peace, along with the Twin Cities Peace Campaign, the Anti-War Committee and Women Against Military Madness in a demonstration outside Congresswoman McCollum’s office in St. Paul. Congress will soon vote on a $33 billion supplemental funding bill for the U.S. war in Afghanistan. The funds will be used to escalate the war, including an attack this summer on the Afghan city of Kandahar. Betty McCollum has made it clear that she intends to support this additional $33 billion for the war. The war in Afghanistan will not make the world safer; the escalation can only lead to more horrendous loss of life and increased hostility toward the United States. We also ask that you call her office today to tell her to Vote "NO" on the $33 billion supplemental funding for the war in Afghanistan: (651) 224-9191 (St. Paul) and (202) 225-6631 (Washington, D.C.).
